Saturday 18th February 2017 – 18 Holes Single Stableford Medley

There were some impressive scores carded and Gary Dallyn (42), Mike Finley, Bill Reynolds and David Killeen (all on 40) must have thought they were in with a chance. However, Gladstone visitor Pat Swanepoel (playing with wife Sonia for the first time on the course) won the day with a score of 45 points and generously donated his prize back to the club. Very Impressive.

Robin Hay was the highest place lady. Men’s pins went to Geoff Smith on the 3rd and Mal Ewing on the 5th. Sonia Swanepoel got the ladies on the 14th. Continue reading

Saturday 11th February 2017 – 18 Holes Stableford Multiplier

With the greens recovering from renovation a team game with a harsh twist was in order and congratulations go to the Brothers Clayton – Richard and John – who posted a winning score of 81 points. MGC stalwart and former captain John Pottage teamed up with old mate Chris Pottinger and they got the runner up honours with a score of 72. Blake Wellington and Mal Ewing were third with 71. Nearest the pins went to Tom Bertwistle on the 3rd and Greg Childe-Freeman on the 5th. Continue reading

Top designer starts work on Maleny’s second 9

LEADING Australian golf course architect Graham Papworth has started detailed design work on the second 9 holes of the Maleny Golf Club course following a recent site visit to walk the land and finalise contractual matters.

Mr Papworth’s visit follows finalisation of the lease boundaries and Maleny Golf Club’s successful application for a $100,000 Queensland Government “Getting Places and Spaces” grant to help finance construction of next three holes.

“Well we’re now in the first phase of adding the second nine holes and working on the detailed design of the next three holes on an agreed parcel of land,” said Mr Papworth (pictured here with Superintendent Mick McCombe, President Max Whitten and Business Development Director David Killeen).
