As some of you may know one of our club stalwarts John Oxenham has been battling health issues of late, culminating in a stroke. Not surprisingly John has not been taking it all lying down.
According to Jenny, he has already amazed the medical profession, such have been his recuperative powers! Nevertheless, please spare John (and Jenny) a thought in wishing him a speedy recovery!
Congratulations go to Bob Whiteley who carded a winning score of 42 points to beat Denis O’Neill on a countback with Denis Hickey in 3rd place on 41 points. Robin Hay was the best placed lady also with 41 points, followed by Vivien Powell on 34 points. The men’s pin went to Jimmy Byun on the 5th and the ladies on the 3rd went to Robin Hay. After being pipped for the A Grade Monthly Medal by Blake Wellington last week Mike Finley (pictured on right with Tom Bertwistle) demonstrated true grit by bouncing right back to post a winning score of 43 points – 2 clear of runner-up Geoff Smith who triumphed over Gary Dallyn following a countback. The weather was perfect for golf and reigning medalist Christine Lemon picked up from where she left last week to post a winning score of 38 points – 1 better than runner up Anne Devane on a countback from Margaret Goodger who also had 37 points.
