It was great to see a strong field take to the course to play one of the lesser known Par formats today. Congratulations go to Liz Mellish who was the only player to finish on the right side of “0” with +1. Beth Glover was the Runner-up on “0” after beating Sue Hardy on a count back. Allison Behncken got nearest the pin on the 5th.golf_competition_report_349109_2017419_1048
Maleny hosted another Vets and Seniors tournament and it was great to see visitors from Caloundra Golf Club in the field. There were three players on 37 points but there could only be one winner and congratulations go to Denis O’Neill on a count back from Doug Johnson who also edged out Mike Kapper on a count back!
Marg Trigger was the best placed lady with 31 points followed by Robin Hay with 26 points. Marg also got the ladies nearest the pin on the 3rd.
Chris Pottinger got the men’s pin on the 5th and Dick Kamen from Caloundra got the pin on the 9th.
However, the club house banter after the round quickly focused on Denis Hickey’s bad lie (shown in in the accompanying photo) while playing the Second.
On close inspection Denis finally found his ball in an unplayable position inside a tree trunk! Suffice to say he did not seek a ruling and had to take a penalty drop before proceeding any further.
Congratulations to Robin Hay who holed out with her second shot to score an Eagle 2 on the tricky Par 4 Eighth Hole during our Sunday afternoon competition – joining Penny Edwards who managed this feat last year.
Robin, who won the 9-Hole competition with 22 points on a count back from Rod Waldron, is understandably feeling very excited! Chris Pottinger was 3rd with 19 points.
While on the subject of Eagles, congratulations also go to Jack Day who Eagled the Par 5 Fourth Hole during the competition on Saturday the 15th.
Perfect Easter weather greeted the field today and there were some impressive scores graced the new clubhouse leaderboard.
But there could be only one winner and congratulations go to Tom Bertwistle who carded a net 61 – 1 clear of Runner-Up Geoff Smith (62). Bill Reynolds was 3rd with a net 63.
Nearest the Pins went to Richard Owen, who came within a whisker of holing out on the 3rd, and Mike Finley on the 5th.
Suzanne Hardy won the day with a score of 34 points on a count-back from Beth Glover and Toni Bishop was third with 32 points. Nearest to the Pins went to Beth on the 3rd and Robin Hay on the 5th.golf_competition_report_346170
