Top course designer now working on Maleny’s second 9 Holes

LEADING Australian golf course architect Graham Papworth has started detailed design work on the second 9 holes of the Maleny Golf Club course following a recent site visit to walk the land and finalise contractual matters.

Mr Papworth’s visit follows finalisation of the lease boundaries and Maleny Golf Club’s successful application for a $100,000 Queensland Government “Getting Places and Spaces” grant to help finance construction of next three holes.

“Well we’re now in the first phase of adding the second nine holes and working on the detailed design of the next three holes on an agreed parcel of land,” Mr Papworth said (pictured 3rd from left with Mick, Sel Hopely and Rob Bailo). Continue reading

Saturday 4th February 2017 – 18 Holes Single Stableford Medley

The course was playing at its very best today and Jon Fairman emerged victorious (again!) with a winning score of 41 points. The men’s runner up was Paul Viertel on 38 points, with Jan Johnston in 3rd on 37oints.

Robin Hay was the best of the ladies on 28 points with Georgina Hamilton the runner up on 26 points – one point better than Liz Mellish. Men’s nearest the pins with to Paul Viertel on the 12th and to Jan Johnston on the 14th. Georgina Hamilton got the Ladies’ pin on the 5th. Continue reading

Tuesday 31st January 2017 – 18 Holes Single Stableford Medley

A nice day for golf and accolades go to Denis Hickey who posted an unassailable winning score of 41 points – two clear of runner-up Mike Kapper on 39 with third placed Darryl Harbottle another two back on 37.
Seri Tytherleigh was the best placed lady in 6th with 31 points. Men’s nearest the pins went to Mal Ewing on the 3rd and Mike Kapper on the 5th while the ladies pin on the 12th went to Jasmine O’Hara.

Saturday 28th January 2017 – 18 Holes Stroke Framed D’Art Mens Monthly Medal

Congratulations go to MGC member Blake Wellington who shot 71 off the stick to wrest the men’s course record by one shot from Sean Daimes. Blake is pictured here with Captain Marg Trigger with his card.

Unfortunately his net 68 was bettered on a countback by Jan Johnston who won the A Grade medal. Richard Clayton was the B Grade winner on net 71 – three shots clear of runner up Paul Viertel.

Jon Fairman secured C Grade honours with a net 69 on a count back from Richard Owen and Joe Walters won the Maleny Mug. Pins went to Jan Johnston on the 3rd and the 5th. Continue reading
