October Activity at the Course

Patronage at Maleny Golf Club has continued to trend upwards recently as a result of strong support from local sporting groups, media interest in the club’s progress and the attraction of golf as a sport to augment high-school leadership and team-development programs.

Maleny Golf Club had a fantastic day on Sunday October 18 when we hosted almost 40 players participating in the Witta Tennis Club’s Annual Charity Golf Day. We entertained an eclectic mix of members and visitors who all had a great experience on the course, followed by a barbeque lunch and healthy dose of fellowship. Thanks to all involved in organising this successful and fun-filled event. We are looking forward to doing it all again next year.

The previous day President Max Whitten and Club Manager Richard Owen played a round of golf with journalist Aaron Wynne (see attached) who writes for the prestigious, but locally produced, quarterly coffee table magazine Salt in which the Club should feature in the forthcoming Summer edition. Aaron thoroughly enjoyed the experience and we look forward to reading about it in Salt.

After our big day hosting the Witta Tennis Club Ambrose event Maleny Golf Club backed it up with a monster Monday looking after 9 teachers and 10 student leaders from The Southern Cross Catholic College at Scarborough.

We put on a sausage sizzle for lunch as part of the package deal and special thanks go out to Margaret Goodger for extending her volunteer shift to help MGC Manager Richard Owen cope with the extra workload. Everyone involved had a fantastic time and here’s hoping the college will lock this in as an annual event in years to come.
