Nestled within the verdant hills of the Sunshine Coast Hinterland, the Maleny Golf Club’s quality, 18-hole course provides visitors with a picturesque, Scottish inspired, ‘golf-as-it-began’ playing experience.
From the elevated club house, players are presented with a panoramic view of the links-style course and an ideal vantage point from which to assess the golfing challenge ahead.
The 18-hole layout is comprised of nine Par 4s, six Par 3s and three Par 5s to provide you with a challenging Par 69, 18-hole layout.
Players will encounter some stern tests of golf along the way, including a penal kikuyu, long grass rough for those who stray from the well-defined fairways.
The final six holes of the 18-hole Graham Papworth designed course opened in February 2020.
Maleny Golf Club’s Mountain, Obi and Farm Tees are slope rated to encourage players regardless of gender to play from the Tees best suited to their ability and handicap.
COURSE PHILOSOPHY AND HISTORY
Free of pretentiousness and built from the ground up by those who will grace its fairways for the foreseeable future, Maleny Golf Club is a triumph not simply for the golf it has created but for the people in has united.
This 20-year labour of love has endured many days of frustration and sleepless nights for those driving the cause forward.
However, their sustained belief and effort has delivered an impressive, quality golf course with a collection of 18 magnificent holes placed delicately within the existing landscape – farmland bought by the Sunshine Coast Council for the people of Maleny for generations to come.
This caveat may well prove to underpin Maleny Golf Club’s greatest strength, particularly amid such challenging economic conditions unleashed by Covid-19.
