Kids in Action at Maleny Golf Club
More than 300 students from various Sunshine Coast primary schools visited the picturesque Maleny Golf Club and the Community Precinct on Friday August 28 to explore and discover nature as part of this year’s two-day Sunshine Coast Kids in Action Conference.
Kids in Action brings schools together to explore local environmental issues and visits to three separate Maleny Community Precinct sites were included in the day’s activities. The children accessed one of the sites via the Maleny Trail walkway alongside the golf course’s signature Par 3 third hole. Access to another site on the walking path behind the 8th green was gained by walking alongside the 1st fairway and over the 8th fairway.
Kids in Action aims to grow a culture that values caring for the natural world and the children got a first-hand view on the day of how a recreational activity like golf can coexist with nature without endangering or degrading the environment.
